Amanda Read (20) is the perfectionist writer, artist and college student majoring in History who is afraid of wasting time but keeps up with Imaginate That because she is interested in filmmaking and needs t
o learn to relax, have fun and appreciate whatever creativity the youngsters can come up with. She is also founder of Luke Historians and Editor-in-Chief of Not Just An Opinion.
Rachel Read (17) is the whimsical creator of The Called and the Chosen. Most of the ingenious and hilarious editing in Imaginate That movies is due to her imagination. Besides being Amanda’s polar opposite, she’s also a ballet dancer, book lover, goofball, and natural musician who can invent complex melodies and play by ear nearly at the drop of a hat – mostly at the piano, but she is also learning to play the guitar…mostly by herself. She is also a co-founder of the Christian girl website Priceless Purity. Oh yes, and she wants you to know that she loves you very much.
Andrew Abbott (17) is the resident masked villain who gets tired of sitting in the corner during long hours of filming. He would much rather be reenacting the Spartans or some other deadliest warrior, so he’s orchestrated some guys-only movie projects along with Joseph. He’s also a paintball aficionado. His dream career is to become a U.S. Army sharp shooter in the elite Special Forces. Last time we checked on him, he was still attempting to get his driver’s permit without reading the driver’s manual.
Joseph Read (15) is the special effects whiz who is trying to master VisionLab. His abnormal level of patience with monotony places him in the leading role of The Called and the Chosen as well as in charge of editing lightsaber duels frame by frame. His interest in medieval weaponry and acting dates back to when he first discovered J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit at age 2 and insisted upon becoming one. (A hobbit, that is.) Since then, he has accumulated several other interests in C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books, G.A. Henty historical war fiction books, and the Star Wars movies, like most American boys will probably tell you. Besides filmmaking, he’s taken a recent interest in flipping through an old Physics textbook, getting on his sisters’ ever-loving nerves, and being the hero to his 2 younger brothers, David & Benjamin.
David Abbott (15) is the social animal who participates in Imaginate That to keep from going mad while being separated from his local rendezvous when forced to hang out on the Reads’ 22 acres. He takes credit for the original plot concept of The Called and the Chosen. His natural acting/voice talent and ability is taken advantage of, and he’s currently playing 2 characters in the Called and the Chosen. He’s sort of an amateur war historian who can engage anyone in a retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae until 1:00 in the morning. As of now, his time is mainly consumed in his band Kill The Quiet, drumming, accidentally being mistaken as Joe Jonas, and song-writing and what not. Oh yes, did we mention he’s also a drummer in a youth band at his church, and all around Jonas Brother look-alike?
Abigail Read (13) is the industrious gal who helps Amanda (or vice versa) design and sew costumes and handle the camera. She devotes time to drawing sweet little caricatures, working patiently with knitting needles, yarn, and her weaving loom, and her life-time interest in becoming an entomologist. Most all of the behind the scenes photography and footage is due to her conscientiousness of the moment. She also co-authors the Farm Girls blog and tends to her beehive.
Angela Abbott (13) is the theatrical live wire of Imaginate That. A talented singer, she often writes songs with Rachel and directs other film projects with Abigail and Mary. Among her wide-span of interests, she is also a prolific story writer who is currently working on Ghost Story and Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life. She also enjoys art, and Anime. More than that, she has the ability to make you smile and laugh, with random bouts of…well…randomness! She also has a fondness of cats, especially her own, Belle & Grayson.
Mary Read (11) is the willing assistant and performer who is eager to prove her abilities despite being overlooked and bumped out of the scene occasionally. She actively participates in Imaginate That by collecting props and helping design costumes and likes to sing along with Rachel, Angela and Abigail. If asked, she will undoubtedly inform you that she loves horses (preferably the beautiful golden haired palomino kind) loves to draw pictures, and is a co-author of the Farm Girls blog.
David Read, (8) better known as “Little David”, or even more embarrassingly affectionate – “Baby Dave” – along with his contagious smile and laughter, is the precocious, talkative, perpetually happy and hyperactive wee lad who keeps the older guys on their toes. Smart, sweet and loveable (shh, don’t tell him we said that!) – He’s always the first one in costume, whether he is in the scene or not. His interests are too many to list, but his mentionable favorite currently is American football, which he discovered as a tiny tot, and is now practically his life. He will keep you up to date on virtually any NFL and NCAA football team in the nation…(But he wants you to know that he is a staunch Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and intends to play there in…11 years, he has calculated.) Oh yes, and he will give you quite a run for your money in ESPN Playstation 2 Football.
